The Traveler Never Returnes the same

Across seas and countries, enveloped in alterity, in the alert and curious appearance of the new, my eye dilated.

I spent my days in Solar do Barão, Curitiba, Brazil, at the cultural center of engraving. I chose to learn metal engraving, along with other colleagues, from whom I stole secrets of alchemist engravers in the right to dream. I became friends especially with my teachers, makers in their turn, with Denise Roman, Jose Roberto Dasilva, Maria Lucia de Julio and Andreea Las then with chosen colleagues such as my good friend in making and teaching Daniel Pizani who with the greatest generosity guided me through acids, varnishes and stories from the history of art. I thank them and Malu Meyer, the coordinator of the Soma Gallery and the man who encouraged me to make a final exhibition, with the works of a summer in bloom.

I have met too many beautiful people, places that have trained me in the possibility of a different kind of life and knowledge that with a generosity without restraints and hiding places I have received.

I have known too many confrontations with the self, which told me that becoming is a process, that the turmoil is about questions and not about answers, that I can only think like me and that I can only create like Them.

I understood the strength of people gathered with the same purpose, the determination to create, which is the answer to suffering and at the same time to overcome it, what do people do when they don't do this and how can a being live without a pencil by their side.

I learned that art can stir up or heal wars and peace, that the figurative brings man closer to the invisible, that the line is a chord that brings us closer through drawing, I learned about the guiding force of a master and about dreams that I didn't know I had. But above all, I learned that the recreated image can be a window and a mirror at the same time, a gateway to the world beyond us.

This journey has ended for me, I came back after three months with wider eyes, longer arms and many drawings, paintings and engravings, but especially with bigger dreams.
