Roman Fruit Platter with wild flowers 

This platter evokes the splendour of Roman banquets, when the table was not only a place of nourishment, but a stage for beauty, theatre, and communion. In those evenings lit by the trembling glow of candles and oil lamps, food was laid out as if it were a painting colours, textures, and perfumes arranged with as much care as words in a poem. Fruits, olives, breads and wines became offerings shared among friends and strangers alike, gestures of generosity and refinement.

The platter carries that memory in its form: wide, undulating like a draped cloth, opening to receive abundance. Its pedestal raises it gently, as in ancient feasts where vessels stood higher to invite the gaze and extend the ritual of sharing. The hand-painted blue florals recall the decorative language of frescoes and ceramics that once adorned Roman villas fragile traces of a civilisation that turned the act of dining into art.

Placed in a contemporary home, this piece becomes more than a vessel. It is an invitation to slow down, to see food not just as sustenance but as composition, colour, and ceremonya gathering under the timeless light of conviviality.
